History

The Center is associated with the Department of Mathematics and College of Sciences (COS) and housed in Cox Hall on NCSU North Campus. The personnel at the Center are faculty members from the various Departments and Colleges at NC State, as well as a number of external organizations. The CRSC was approved by the University of North Carolina (UNC) Board of Governors in 1986. Dr. Robert Plemmons served as the first Director of the Center until 1990 when he left for Wake Forest University. The Center was temporarily inactive until Dr. H. T. Banks was hired as Director in 1992. Dr. Banks served as the Director of CRSC until the end of 2018. The College of Sciences appointed Dr. Hien Tran as the next Director of CRSC effective January 1, 2019.
